Greater Greenbrier Chamber of Commerce Annual Dinner to Honor Marlene Pierson-Jolliffe

Agriculture and tourism are driving forces in our local economy and the Greater Greenbrier Chamber of Commerce is pleased to highlight the careers of two women who have impacted both segments. Marlene Pierson-Jolliffe is being honored as Business Leader of the Year. With her leadership, the State Fair Event Center has become a year-round destination contributing to growth of our economy. Her leadership abilities have been recognized on the national and international levels as she was elected Chair of the International Association of Fairs and Expositions. Robin Hildebrand of Blue Smoke Salsa will be the guest speaker. The Annual Dinner will be held at The Greenbrier on Tuesday, March 19 beginning at 6:30 with a cocktail time.
Marlene has served as CEO of the State Fair Event Center since 2004. She began working at the fair during her senior year of high school and later served as Assistant Manager and Coordinator of Sales and Marketing from 1989 to 2003. She served as Executive Director of the Greater Greenbrier Chamber of Commerce between stints at the Fair. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Concord College and achieved for Masters Degree from Clemson University in Parks, Recreation and Tourism Management. She has served on the Boards of the Greater Greenbrier Chamber and CVB, as well as the Advisory Boards of BB&T and WVNS-TV. She has served in the Session of Old Stone Presbyterian Church and in many other volunteer positions throughout the community. She and husband, Frank have two children, Jacob and Danielle.
Robin Hildebrand, the President and CEO of Blue Smoke Salsa of Ansted, WV and will be relating “How to Make Challenges into Opportunities”. The story of Blue Smoke Salsa personifies the spirit of entrepreneurism which helped to form this nation, as she took her talent in the kitchen and built it into award winning business. Robin has been named WV Entrepreneur of the Year in WV for more than one year. She is on the Board of Directors of the WV Chamber. Her Blue Smoke Salsas have received many awards including “Best Salsa in the Western Hemisphere” and “The Fiery Food Challenge”. Her products are sold in over 250 outlets and in three states. Robin is also involved in the Local Foods initiative.
